Teaching Java to Generate Code For Flex 2
An open source component for auto-generating Flex data access code

Digg This!

It’s a known fact that Java and Adobe Flex 2 compliment each other really well. Fancy Flash GUI can easily "talk" to  robust Java servers. Declarative programming of GUI components Flex 2 is easier than in Swing, but Java and Flex experts from New York's Farata Systems    became really “lazy”. They decided to write a program that would auto-generate all the code  (both the client and server side) for creating and deploying your Flex  2 data  grid components.

This work has resulted in an open source component called DAOFlex, which takes a simple Java class and an SQL statement, performs some XSL magic and runs an Ant build script to generate all required MXML, ActionScript, Java and XML  for a data grid that retrieves and updates the data from your RDBMS.  You can read about  DAOFlex and download it at Adobe’s Web site for Flex developers.

Meet  the authors of DAOFlex at the upcoming Flex Seminar in New York on August 14
