Microsoft's senior director of developer platform management has written that he's "disappointed by the lack of openness in the development of the Cloud Manifesto" while an Amazon.com spokesperson has told a reporter that Amazon will "continue to pursue an approach of providing customers with maximum flexibility as the standards discussion unfolds." One thing is certain: each and every cloud computing vendor at SYS-CON's 2nd International Cloud Computing Expo opening in New York City on Monday will have a point of view on the "Open Cloud Manifesto" that is due to be released to the world at 12:01AM on Monday, just hours before Amazon's CTO Werner Vogels opens the event with a keynote address in which he will discuss the power of Infrastructure as a Service.
Reuven Cohen, who has - he writes - been "helping to co-author the Open Cloud Manifesto," explains that the Manifesto is a call to action for the worldwide cloud community "to get involved and embrace the principles of the open cloud."
Cohen is a speaker at Cloud Computing Expo, and is giving one of the 102 breakout and general sessions that comprise what is recognized as the biggest and highest-energy Cloud Computing event anywhere, with major inustry keynotes not just from Amazon's Dr Vogels but also from Dr Kristof Kloeckner, CTO of Enterprise Initiatives and VP of Cloud Computing Platforms at IBM and from Sun's Sr. VP of Cloud Computing, David Douglas.
