SOA brings together people, not just software. That's why integrating Web 2.0 concepts into a SOA-such as comments, feeds, ratings, tags, and automatic search alerts-holds so much promise for breaking down business silos and enabling many people to work together for the first time.
However, the unfettered communications associated with consumer Web 2.0 also need to be more controlled once they move into an enterprise SOA. IT professionals require social governance that balances the agility enabled by Web 2.0 capabilities with adherence to policies, visibility into changes, security, and access control.
SOAWorld: A Social Registry - Bridging Technology and Community for SOA
WSO2 will present a session at the SOAWorld 2008 Conference and Expo to demonstrate how adding a layer of Web 2.0 capabilities to an SOA infrastructure provides fertile ground to help grow a vibrant and connected community of developers, businesspeople, and technologists. Attendees also will learn how a social registry/repository can enable both grass-roots development and CIO-pleasing governance, all with standard REST interfaces.
When: Friday, November 21, 9:10-9:55 a.m.
Where: SOAWorld 2008, Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA
Presenter: Glen Daniels, WSO2 director of Java Platforms
Glen Daniels is the WSO2 director of Java platforms and the project lead for the WSO2 Registry. Glen is also a vice president of the Apache Software Foundation where he spearheaded the redesign of Apache SOAP, led the creation of Apache Axis, and has contributed significantly to Apache Axis2 and Synapse.
WSO2, an SOAWorld sponsor and exhibitor, will demonstrate it's WSO2 Registry at the show, November 20-21, 2008. The WSO2 Registry is the first registry/repository built around the concept of social governance-combining run-time governance and policy enforcement with the ability to rate, tag, comment on, and receive alerts for the Web services being managed. The SOAWorld 2008 Conference and Expo runs November 19-21, 2008, at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, CA.
