Adobe and ARM are gonna put Flash Player 10 and AIR, the stuff of web video and rich Internet apps, on ARM widgets by the second half of next year.
They mean phones, set-tops, MIDs, TVs, car mojo and personal media devices, which have so far only had access to Flash Lite, not the best in browsing.
iPhone happens to be based on ARM though whether that'll be true a year from now is unclear since Apple bought Power chipmaker PA Semi. Apple CEO Steve Jobs doesn't think much of any kind of Flash and has said it's too pokey, which is why it's not on the thing.
Even if it is the leading web video format around today on the desktop, it isn't that pervasive in the mobile market. It's only been available on Symbian and lately Windows phones although it may soon appear on Google's Android as well as RIM's Blackberry.
ARM also needs to provide the same functionality as Intel MIDs and nettops.
The pair said the widgetry would be good on ARMv6 and ARM v7 architectures. The widgetry will be available royalty-free to members of the Open Screen Project.
