The Business Imperative for SOA Supply-Chain Management

JP Morgenthal's SOA Session at SOAWorld, June 23-24, in New York City

This session will illustrate how service-orientation brings about the ability for organizations to see changes in business processes reflected quickly in their business systems by discussing real-world applications of SOA as applied to supply-chain management.

Speaker Bio: JP is a widely-respected author, speaker and thought-leader on the use of emerging technologies. His work in the field of XML, Java, EAI and SOA is the foundation upon which many of the modern Web concepts are now built. As principal analyst for NC Focus, JP delivered the earliest guidance on the use of XML for building machine-to-machine communication. As CTO of XMLSolutions, he was responsible for ground-breaking technology for integrating the supply-chain through XML, and at Ikimbo, he again broke ground on the use of secure instant-messaging to drive real-time collaboration around the supply-chain. As chief architect for Software AG, JP once again provided key thought leadership in the industry for using XML for SOA, Web Services and B2B communications.

Most recently, JP authored Enterprise Information Integration: A Pragmatic Approach Enterprise Information Integration:A Pragmatic Approach, which details the use of SOA for building information hubs.

JP holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in computer science from Hofstra University.

SOA World Conference & Expo 2008 East brings together the best minds in the business for a two-day conference that offers comprehensive coverage of SOA and what it means to enterprise IT today.

Service-oriented architectures have evolved over the past few years out of the original vision of loosely coupled Web services replacing constrained, stovepiped applications throughout enterprise IT. Every major enterprise technology vendor today has developed its own SOA strategy, supported by innumerable mid-size companies and start-ups offering specific SOA aspects or entire solutions.

Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) have evolved over the past few years out of the original vision of loosely coupled web services replacing constrained, stovepiped applications throughout enterprise IT. Every major enterprise technology vendor today has developed its own SOA strategy, supported by innumerable mid-size companies and start-ups offering specific SOA aspects or entire solutions. This explosive growth in SOA technology is in response to a global demand--IDC estimates that spending on SOA services alone will grow from $8.6 billion to more than $33 billion by 2010.
