Berners-Lee Pockets $1.2m Prize

Berners-Lee was reportedly selected unanimously out of a field of 78 innovators from 22 countries for "an innovation that directly promotes people's quality of life, is based on humane values and encourages sustainable economic development."

They're going to make a fuss over him in Helsinki on June 15 at the inaugural Millennium Technology Conference on Future Technology. In saluting Berners-Lee, a Brit ex-pat, the Finns are snubbing one of their own, the inestimable Linus Torvalds.
