KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- GSI Commerce Inc. , a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, and the National Hockey League (NHL), today announced a multiyear extension to their e-commerce agreement through 2014. With the long-term agreement, GSI continues to supply the NHL's online store (http://shop.nhl.com/ ) with e-commerce technology, order processing, customization, fulfillment, customer care, and additionally, through GSI's marketing services agency, gsi interactive(SM), search engine marketing, e-mail and catalog services.
"Since launching our new online store with GSI in January 2005, we have seen significant increases of merchandise sales on the site," said Brian Jennings, NHL executive vice president of product marketing. "GSI's expertise in the online world of licensed products, merchandising and marketing has allowed us to provide a high-quality online shopping experience to our loyal fans. We look forward to continuing to grow this successful partnership."

For the upcoming season, all 30 NHL teams will be wearing the new Rbk EDGE Uniform System, developed by Reebok in partnership with the NHL. To meet expectations that NHL fans will want to wear their favorite team's new jersey this season, GSI will offer the new jerseys on Shop.NHL.com with the option for fans to customize those jerseys with any name and number combination.
As part of its multichannel initiatives with the league, GSI is scheduled to publish and mail the NHL's catalog for the upcoming season. Last year, GSI added alternative payments, gift cards and upgraded e-mail capabilities to the Shop.NHL.com site.
In addition to the NHL, GSI has agreements to manage the Web stores for all the major professional sports leagues in the United States including Major League Baseball, the NFL, the NBA and NASCAR.
