Interview with Vadim Vladimirskiy, Founder & CEO of Nerdio

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. Please tell us, what is Nerdio all about. What do you do?

Vadim Vladimirskiy: Nerdio is a proven IT-as-a-service platform with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technology at its core. Nerdio is designed for IT departments that need a way to easily manage their ever-increasing workloads. Nerdio allows users to efficiently manage their complete IT environments by giving them full visibility and control of users' desktops. In addition to virtual desktops, the Nerdio platform includes unlimited virtual servers, Microsoft Office 365 security, and disaster recovery - plus 24/7/365 support.

Who is your target audience and how do you reach them?

Vladimirskiy: We have a two-pronged approach to market: direct and channel (managed service providers, or MSPs). On the direct side of things, we target internal IT professionals.Too often, IT pros are seen as non-strategic assets. They're constantly barraged with firefighting duties that take them away from their main goal. They're too busy being reactive rather than having the ability to be proactive. Nerdio allows users to go from being functionaries to where they belong: key drivers of technology-driven growth for the entire company.

And, we also get MSPs. It's tough balancing a volatile revenue stream, client retention and capture, support costs, and hiring and training high-quality workers; it's the stuff nightmares are made of. Nerdio simplifies the game. We make it easy by offering pre-packaged solutions that make onboarding and support easy. MSPs don't have to worry about building custom configurations that take months to sort out and price.  We empower them with our Nerdio Mission Control portal that allows MSPs to control and monitor all of their customers' needs from one management tool.

What problem do you solve?

Vladimirskiy: We fix IT departments by making IT pros look good. Our mission is to make them  superheroes. IT teams have full control.

Are you de facto moving from being an MSP to a SaaS solution provider? Why should MSPs adopt your solution?

Vladimirskiy: Yes, we've made the switch from being an MSP to a solution-provider because we've been there. We've been through too many failed VDI implementations and knew there had to be a better way. This lead us to develop the Nerdio platform -- a comprehensive, fully integrated system -- so that other MSPs could take advantage of this technology for their existing and new customers.

For us, we believe this is the future of IT, and in particular, VDI, so it was an easy decision to become a platform because this is the best way to get the advantages of Nerdio to a broad audience much more quickly. There are a number of piece-part solutions that comprise Nerdio, and any MSP can do the hard work of putting all these parts together, but why do all that hard work?

How do you differentiate from your competitors?

Vladimirskiy: Competitors do these individual services in piece-part. However, we provide all of these aspects in a single package with VDI. Additionally, we also offer 24/7/365 help desk support for pennies per day. No other provider can deliver that. This powerful combination is a one-of-a-kind solution.

Tell us about your partner strategy. Why do partners want to use Infrastructure-as-a-service and why with you?

Vladimirskiy: Clients are clamoring for cloud services. The market is not only ready; it's here, now. Also, we've already done all of the heavy lifting to develop this platform so they don't have to. This sticky technology allows MSPs to have a longer relationship with end-clients because they're truly managing the end environment. Why us? We've been there, done that, and continue to do it. We're also aggressively going to market with a new partner program, and we already have leads to readily funnel to our partners.

On the other side are those who already have their own specialized cloud offering. We're looking for those MSPs and value-added resellers who are in the middle, meaning they proactively manage their clients' IT services, but believe that VDI and virtualization are the future of computing and are looking to add this new service to their portfolios. Also included in this range are other professional service companies, such as print service providers or telecom providers that want to evolve to include additional services to their clients and see value in VDI.

We are a compelling offer for these types of partners as we essentially give them the power to offer a fully integrated IT platform without the risk or need to employ highly trained (and expensive) technical staff. It really is IT-as-a-service at scale.

Who founded the company, when and why?

Vladimirskiy: We started the company in 2005 as an offsite data storage provider. After years of seeing IT teams struggle with manual work, removing them as true strategic assets, we had that "light bulb" moment and developed a solution that makes managing an IT environment quicker, more intuitive and super simplified - Nerdio. We officially launched in June 2016 and our product has helped drive a great many IT folks and MSPs to success. It's a dream come true for us - but it doesn't mean we've stopped innovating or creating. It's who we are at our core -- we tinker, we build. It's what makes any great IT person who they are.
