Click to Tweet: Veeam Announces Inaugural Conference, VeeamON: The World’s Premier Data Center Availability Event in Las Vegas Oct. 6 – 8 #VeeamON2014
Veeam® Software, innovative provider of solutions that deliver Availability for the Modern Data Center™, today announced VeeamON: The World’s Premier Data Center Availability Event, which will be held October 6 – 8 at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Veeam will host three days of activities, including general sessions, executive keynotes and deep-dives into the Veeam product line, as well as a customer showcase and an interactive expo lounge.
VeeamON is expected to attract more than 1,000 industry-leading experts, Veeam customers and partners, and IT professionals who will have the opportunity to learn first-hand how to enable the Always-On Business™. Platinum sponsors Cisco, HP Storage, Microsoft, NetApp and VMware will join more than 20 other Silver and Gold sponsors, including CDW, Ingram Micro Inc. and Arrow Electronics, Inc.
“VeeamON is the premier data center availability event, bringing together for the first time thought leaders, industry experts, and IT professionals from all over the world to immerse themselves in the latest in modern data center availability technology,” said Ratmir Timashev, CEO of Veeam. “The new era of the modern data center brings new challenges, but with the much anticipated launch of the new Veeam Availability Suite™ v8 later this year, we can do what legacy data protection and backup systems never could: Veeam provides Availability for the Modern Data Center to enable the Always-On Business. For the first time, IT can achieve recovery time and point objectives (RTPO™) of less than 15 minutes for all applications and data. At VeeamON, we will be able to connect directly with customers, partners and industry leaders to explore the new era of modern data center challenges and how we’ll all work together to solve them.”
Timashev will share the keynote stage with Alexis Ohanian, entrepreneur and co-founder of Reddit, a top-50 US website. Now a Reddit board member, Ohanian focuses his time and energy on founding and investing in companies that fit his model of “making something people love and making the world suck less.”
Industry-leading analysts from Gartner, Forrester Research, Inc. and Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) will be featured at VeeamON as speakers, presenters and facilitators.
“It is impossible to imagine a modern data center that isn’t highly virtualized, regardless of whether that infrastructure lives on an enterprise’s raised floor, an SMB’s back closet, or in a cloud provider,” said Jason Buffington, senior analyst at ESG. “Not coincidentally, data protection and assured availability demands have never been higher. Veeam is known for its innovation, so I am excited to be a part of VeeamON 2014 where so many protection and availability experts will come together under one roof.”
“Veeam has been an integral part of our DR strategy and success, and we are honored to be a part of their first VeeamON event,” said William Dalton, IT Director at TrendMicro. “We look forward to joining the Veeam team and our peers to share our experiences and gain insight into how Veeam’s solutions can deliver on the promise of the 24-7 data center.”
VeeamON offers attendees three content tracks – Technical, Business and Partner - and more than 55 breakout sessions. Content tracks will focus on emerging market trends, industry predictions, product deep-dives, best practices and more. Veeam will also offer hands-on labs, training and certification onsite during VeeamON, including:
- Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE): A technical deep-dive course that provides extensive information on Veeam solutions and documents that ensures an engineer possesses the necessary level of expertise to correctly architect, implement and configure Veeam Software solutions. VeeamON 2014 attendees are eligible for significant discounts (see pricing information below) for VMCE courses and vouchers for VMCE certification exams.
- Veeam Lab Warz: This onsite, hands-on competition is based on individual knowledge of Veeam technologies and best practices. The cloud. Like a comic book superhero, there seems to be no problem it can’t fix or cost it can’t slash. Yet making the transition is not always easy and production environments are still largely on premise. Taking some practical and sensible steps to reduce risk can also help provide a basis for a successful cloud transition. A plethora of surveys from the likes of IDG and Gartner show that more than 70 percent of enterprises have deployed at least one or more cloud application or workload. Yet a closer inspection at the data reveals less than half of these cloud projects involve production...

Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
