TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 08/18/14 -- The Canadian Press announced today that Stephen Meurice has been appointed Editor-in Chief of the national news agency, effective immediately.
Mr. Meurice has enjoyed a distinguished career in Canadian news organizations, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of the National Post.
The Canadian Press also announced today the appointment of Andrew Lundy to the role of Vice-President, Digital. This is a new executive management role, responsible for the overall leadership of the news agency's digital strategy and operations, reporting to Malcolm Kirk, President of The Canadian Press.

Mr. Meurice was part of the newsroom team that launched the National Post in 1998. In the years that followed, he served in a number of increasingly senior roles, becoming Editor-in-Chief in 2010. During his tenure, the National Post received numerous accolades for its journalism, its engaging approach to news and commentary and its world-class design and presentation. Over the past few years, Mr. Meurice led the transformation of the National Post newsroom into a digitally focused operation that resulted in dramatic growth in the paper's online readership.
Before joining the National Post, Mr. Meurice worked at the Ottawa Citizen and the Sherbrooke Record and was a freelance journalist in the Dominican Republic for two years. He holds a political science degree from Concordia University, where he also studied journalism. He is fluent in English and French.

Before joining CP, Mr. Lundy was Director, Online at Global News, Editor-in-Chief at MSN Canada, and Content Manager and Senior Producer at CBC. Earlier, he had editing and reporting responsibilities at The Standard in St. Catharines. He holds a degree in political science from Western University in London, Ontario, and was named the first VP Digital of RTDNA Canada, a position he held from 2011 to 2013.
