MapR Technologies, Inc., the top-ranked distribution for Apache Hadoop, today announced the expansion of its Asia Pacific presence with the opening of an Australian office in Melbourne.
Following the recent appointment of Justin Bock as Australia and New Zealand country manager, MapR is expanding its capabilities to support the growing demand by Australian companies to utilize big data as a competitive weapon.
MapR has significantly expanded its footprint in the region during the last six months, establishing its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore and recently opening offices in Japan and Korea.
“Our move to open an office in Melbourne, Australia is reflective of the keen interest that so many companies are expressing about Hadoop and particularly the value of MapR. Having Justin in Australia as country manager and establishing a growing Australian team on the ground means that we are now well equipped to assist our existing customers with their needs while capitalizing on the demand for our products and services in this market,” said Martin Darling, vice president, Asia Pacific, MapR Technologies.
Ken Boal, vice president of Cisco Australia and New Zealand noted, “In Australia and New Zealand we see our top customers looking to deploy big data solutions in the near future, which requires a new application-centric approach to managing infrastructure. By partnering with MapR, we’re combining industry leading Apache Hadoop technology for big data with the Cisco Unified Computing System to provide our customers with a powerful and flexible infrastructure that will help increase business and IT agility, reduce total cost of ownership and deliver exceptional ROI."
MapR has also entered into a partnership with IT Service Provider Contexti. "For a number of years, enterprise customers in the US, Europe and Asia have been successfully monetizing their data assets using MapR software and services. Contexti is excited to be supporting MapR with our big data platform services, as they build their presence in the ANZ market," said Sidney Minassian, founder & CEO of Contexti.
MapR is the only distribution for Hadoop that provides full data protection, no single points of failure, improved performance and dramatic ease of use advantages. Most recently, MapR delivered the M7 Enterprise Database Edition which provides a complete distribution for Apache Hadoop and the best in-Hadoop database to reliably run both online and analytical processing on one platform. Unlike other distributions for Hadoop, the MapR M7 architecture is optimized for deployments that depend on high throughput, low latency, high reliability, and no additional administration to ensure production success and significantly lower enterprise data architecture costs.
