Actuate Technical Experts to Present Three Sessions on BIRT at EclipseCon 2014 on March 17-19 in San Francisco

Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ:BIRT), The BIRT Company and the leader in personalized analytics and insights, today announced it will conduct one tutorial and two technical sessions on BIRT at EclipseCon, taking place in San Francisco on Monday, March 17 through Thursday, March 20. Actuate is a Gold Sponsor of EclipseCon 2014, the annual technical conference of the Eclipse Foundation. The Conference focuses on the latest innovations in both the Eclipse community and the software industry.

The BIRT sessions will be presented by Actuate’s own technical experts. “BIRT Basics, and Beyond” is a three hour-long tutorial, led by John Ward, OEM Sales Engineer at Actuate, that will guide attendees on a journey through the BIRT development environment where they can experience first-hand the ease of building reports. The following areas of BIRT development will be covered: report design; connecting to multiple data sources; report item layout in a report design; formatting report items; re-use in a development team; and deployment of BIRT and BIRT reports.

The “Creating Data Driven Web Apps with BIRT” presentation by Michael Williams, BIRT Product Evangelist & Forum Manager at Actuate, details the process of creating a seamless application experience within BIRT architecture by integrating its data visualization and reporting capabilities into an existing application.

“Eclipse M2M Technologies in Action – IOT Systems for People Counting with Eclipse Kura and Eclipse BIRT,” a session led by Virgil Dodson, Director of BIRT Evangelism at Actuate, shows attendees how to combine the Eclipse open source stack with open hardware to quickly develop, deploy and manage end-to-end people-counting systems. In combination with other business metrics, these systems help organizations gain powerful insights on sales conversion rates and optimized resource allocation and distribution. This session highlights Eclipse BIRT, the BI tool that supplies these systems with high impact data visualizations and powerful analytics to correlate people counter data with social media metrics and sentiment.
