Tommy Higgins Bolsters Team Applying for .Tickets Internet Domain

29 January 2014 - Accent Media Limited, a British company currently applying to operate the new top level web domain for online ticket sales, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Tommy Higgins as Chairman.

Accent Media, led by Steve Machin, seeks to create a new trusted domain to give consumers peace of mind when purchasing tickets. The new 'tickets' domain will be one of hundreds of new suffixes launched over the next few years as alternatives to the .com or .co.uk extensions currently associated with website addresses. The company plans to make new 'tickets' internet addresses available only to vetted organisations which meet agreed standards.

Tommy Higgins began his career in the music industry in Ireland in the 1970's, where he set up a chain of successful retail music stores. He followed this success with a joint venture to bring the HMV retail brand to Ireland and went on to establish Ireland's first computerised nationwide ticketing company, Ticketshop, which merged with Ticketmaster in 1997 to become Ticketmaster Ireland. Tommy held a number of senior roles within Ticketmaster, including Group Managing Director of UK & Ireland for Ticketmaster and Executive Vice President of Ticketmaster Europe.
