ChristianMingle(R) Strengthens Communities and Inspires Relationships With Good Deed Dating

Online Christian Community Works With Charitable Organizations Throughout the Country to Offer Singles the Opportunity to Give Back While Meeting Other Singles

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/07/14 -- ChristianMingle.com, the largest and fastest growing online community for Christian singles, announced today the launch of Good Deed Dating, a service program dedicated to giving back to communities while bringing together like-minded Christians to help inspire long-lasting, faith-based relationships.

ChristianMingle is working with various service organizations to host the program's inaugural events in three cities: Los Angeles, Houston and Dallas. Good Deed Dating participants will assist these communities through various charitable channels, including volunteering at local food banks and building community gardens to aid in economic development.

"Good Deed Dating is just the start of an ongoing initiative designed to inspire charitable work across the country," said Greg Liberman, CEO of Spark Networks®, owner and operator of ChristianMingle. "The events support our mission to build and strengthen the Christian community and provide a unique opportunity for Christian singles to meet in person and build meaningful relationships based on a shared passion for giving back to those in need."

The Good Deed Dating program kicks off with the following events:

  • Saturday, Jan. 11, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank: Good Deed Dating will come to Los Angeles to serve the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christian singles will help sort, clean and repackage healthy meals for thousands of children, families and seniors in the Los Angeles area.

  • Friday, Feb. 14, Houston Food Bank: As many as 250 ChristianMingle members can celebrate Valentine's Day by sharing God's love and giving back to the community. Members will assist Houston Food Bank from 6 to 9 p.m. Projects will include sorting, cleaning and packaging donated food and non-food items for local families in need.

  • Saturday, Feb. 15, H.I.S. BridgeBuilders: Good Deed Dating will join H.I.S. BridgeBuilders to bring urban farming to a Dallas community with restricted access to grocery stores. Volunteers will assist H.I.S. BridgeBuilders in assembling fences required to build a community garden that will provide fresh fruits and vegetables to a community in dire need of healthy food options.

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform and how we integrate our thinking to solve complicated problems. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Craig Sproule, CEO of Metavine, demonstrated how to move beyond today's coding paradigm and sh...

What are the new priorities for the connected business? First: businesses need to think differently about the types of connections they will need to make – these span well beyond the traditional app to app into more modern forms of integration including SaaS integrations, mobile integrations, APIs, device integration and Big Data integration. It’s important these are unified together vs. doing them all piecemeal. Second, these types of connections need to be simple to design, adapt and configure...
Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...
