With Monitoring of Native Mobile Apps, New Relic Delivers Another Industry First

New Relic for Mobile Apps Fills Critical Need by Putting an End to Era of Zero Visibility

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/14/13 -- New Relic Inc., the SaaS-based application management provider, is enabling the business success of the mobile app industry with New Relic for Mobile Apps, a first-of-its kind service now available for any business striving to achieve rave customer reviews and 5-star ratings in app stores. The new addition to the New Relic world-class web app, real user and server monitoring service extends its in-depth visibility capability to the performance of Android and Apple iOS mobile applications. Ideal for enterprise, mobile commerce or consumer applications, New Relic for Mobile Apps will allow app developers to see exactly what their mobile users are experiencing to ensure high customer satisfaction. In a separate press release, New Relic is also announcing new strategic partnerships with leading mobile service and platform providers.

The mobile app market is projected to top 89 billion downloads by 2015 and it is expected that half of all payments will be transacted via mobile by 2020 (1). Although millions of dollars are being poured into mobile applications, app developers and line of business managers had no actionable insight into the performance of the apps that deliver key services. With multiple points of possible failure -- whether deep within the application code, in the mobile device or in calls to third party APIs, such as Facebook, PayPal and Twitter -- mobile businesses could only guess at the quality of the user experience and the precise location of performance bottlenecks.

New Relic for Mobile Apps is intuitive, easy to deploy, and offered as both a free service and an affordable monthly subscription. New Relic for Mobile Apps is integrated with the flagship New Relic web app service, which is used by hundreds of thousands of developers worldwide. The new mobile app service shares the same single screen view, making New Relic's combined mobile app and web app service the only solution to monitor software, no matter where it's running in an app server, browser, or mobile device.

Availability
New Relic for Mobile Apps is available today for both Apple iOS and Android applications.

For a limited time, it is offered at special discounted pricing. To get it:

  • Existing customers can sign up through the New Relic SaaS app
  • New customers can sign up for a new account here
  • Customers who deploy their mobile apps through a New Relic partner cloud provider will find it available in their app marketplace With the New Relic for Mobile Apps offering, customers get:
  • Real-time performance monitoring of native mobile apps
  • Support for both iOS and Android mobile apps
  • End-to-end visibility, from the individual mobile device to backend web services
  • Insight and actionable data from real app users and sessions to see exactly what the users are experiencing
  • The ability to monitor HTTP app errors and performance problems, which are as bad (or worse) than crashes
  • Views of performance data by geography, carrier, device type and app versions to prioritize, isolate and solve the most pressing problems
  • Constant monitoring of the health of external services that apps depend upon for success

This number will continue to grow at a rapid pace for the next several decades. With major technology companies and startups seriously embracing IoT strategies, now is the perfect time to attend @ThingsExpo, June 9-11, 2015, at the Javits Center in New York City. Learn what is going on, contribute to the discussions, and ensure that your enterprise is as "IoT-Ready" as it can be
The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists will addresses this very serious issue of profound change in the industry.
The multi-trillion economic opportunity around the "Internet of Things" (IoT) is emerging as the hottest topic for investors in 2015. "People are a lot more knowledgeable about APIs now. There are two types of people who work with APIs - IT people who want to use APIs for something internal and the product managers who want to do something outside APIs for people to connect to them," explained Roberto Medrano, Executive Vice President at SOA Software, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at Cloud Expo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
There will be 150 billion connected devices by 2020. New digital businesses have already disrupted value chains across every industry. APIs are at the center of the digital business. You need to understand what assets you have that can be exposed digitally, what their digital value chain is, and how to create an effective business model around that value chain to compete in this economy. No enterprise can be complacent and not engage in the digital economy. Learn how to be the disruptor and not the disruptee.
2015 predictions circa 1970: houses anticipate our needs and adapt, city infrastructure is citizen and situation aware, office buildings identify and preprocess you. Today smart buildings have no such collective conscience, no shared set of fundamental services to identify, predict and synchronize around us. LiveSpace and M2Mi are changing that. LiveSpace Smart Environment devices deliver over the M2Mi IoT Platform real time presence, awareness and intent analytics as a service to local connected devices. In her session at @ThingsExpo, Sarah Cooper, VP Business of Development at M2Mi, will d...
Thanks to widespread Internet adoption and more than 10 billion connected devices around the world, companies became more excited than ever about the Internet of Things in 2014. Add in the hype around Google Glass and the Nest Thermostat, and nearly every business, including those from traditionally low-tech industries, wanted in. But despite the buzz, some very real business questions emerged – mainly, not if a device can be connected, or even when, but why? Why does connecting to the cloud create greater value for the user? Why do connected features improve the overall experience? And why do...
