AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 03/12/13 -- GonnaBe (http://www.gonnabe.com), the simplest and most intuitive way to plan and discover events, today announced the official launch of its platform to find what's happening socially and locally. As part of its launch, GonnaBe has released an entirely new app for the iPhone and is seeding it with new event data and features developed during the platform's many months in beta, ending late last year. GonnaBe compiles all of the previously hard-to-find event and planning information into one platform, displaying content in both a feed as well as an interactive temporal map, producing an effect akin to "social weather."
"So many apps and platforms are concerned with the combination of the who and where -- or the what and where -- but not the who, what and where. GonnaBe is the first app of its kind to effectively do this. Simply put, it's the app of your future," said GonnaBe founder and CEO Hank Leber.
GonnaBe users can browse, make, and share plans with ease -- and the platform comes pre-loaded with time-sensitive specials like happy hours and events like concerts and meetups, marrying event planning with event discovery. These and other features have already gained GonnaBe early user growth and major brand partnerships (most notably Anheuser-Busch and Ticketmaster/LiveNation), as well as early investor interest. GonnaBe uses Facebook Connect and an opt-in follower system to keep users' networks and privacy under control, while facilitating social openness within those selected networks. The app is especially useful for large gatherings like conferences and festivals, which can be packed with wall-to-wall events, making it the perfect companion for this year's SXSW festivalgoers.
"We're excited to offer such great value for our users and especially the SXSW crowd this week," added Leber. "I've been attending for years and am amazed that there's never been a solution for the madness that ensues after the panels each night. It's a crazy haphazard frenzy to find out what's going on. Aren't these supposed to be the most socially connected people in the world? Well, with GonnaBe's help, they finally can be."
At this year's SXSW festival, GonnaBe will provide listings of all party, event, and "unofficial" SXSW shindigs in a fun and highly social way. Attendees will be able to navigate their schedule of meetups, panels and parties in a way they never have before.
GonnaBe is available on iOS devices, with plans to come soon to Android. For added convenience, GonnaBe allows users to share and participate in plans with any friend, through any channel and invitees don't have to download the app in order to opt in to a plan. GonnaBe is an open network -- no friction, no pressure. It's even easier to make and share a plan on GonnaBe than sending a text message.
