MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/11/13 -- Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance analog, mixed signal and power management semiconductors, today introduced a new dual PWM + linear controller that delivers the industry's most flexible, efficient power solution for a broad variety of broadband and networking applications.
The ISL6446A integrates complete control, monitoring and protection functions for two synchronous buck PWM controllers and one linear controller. It allows designers to easily convert 4.5V to 24V DC into as many as three output voltages, with extensive protection. Each output can be controlled independently with adjustable soft-start control. The ISL6446A delivers maximum efficiency over the full operating range of input and output loads. Users can easily design compact DC/DCs with up to 25A current for two channels.
The ISL6446A is designed for ATX power supplies, DSP, ASIC, and FPGA point of load regulation and industrial and security networking applications. It provides a complete set of robust protection features such as thermal shutdown and latch-off mode overcurrent.
Features and Specifications
- Wide 4.5V to 24V input and 0.6V to 20V output operating ranges serve variety of applications
- Programmable switching from 100kHz to 2.5MHz enables wide range of component choices to optimize designs
- Voltage tracking capability allows precision timing control for multiple DC/DC rails
- Lossless current sensing saves cost by eliminating the need for discrete sense resistors
Pricing and Availability
The ISL6446A is available now in QSOP-24 packages, with prices starting at $1.57 each in 1,000-unit quantities. For more information please visit: http://www.intersil.com/products/ISL6446A
