AppZero, the fastest way to move enterprise server applications to the cloud, has announced that it has been named to CIO.com‘s "10 Hot Cloud Startups to Watch" compiled by Startup 50 writer Jeff Vance. The 10 companies making the list were selected from a "top 25" list that was nominated to the Startup 50 blog. Factors in moving onto the final list were: the company's standings following a vote, viability of product, competitive advantages and management team's pedigree. There will be a new round of voting to rank the companies on the top 10 list. Please vote for AppZero here.
According to Vance, AppZero made the list because, moving applications from traditional IT systems to the cloud isn't easy. AppZero encapsulates an application and its dependencies in a "virtual application appliance," without a virtual machine (VM). The result is an application that is flexible, "hypervisor-agnostic, cloud independent, and fast."
Greg O'Connor, AppZero CEO added, "AppZero does something that sounds simple, but isn't - We pick up applications that are in production and move them to another machine, and we do it 50 to 500 times faster than other approaches. The ability to move applications to newer versions of the OS (e.g. WS 2003 to WS 2008(R2) or WS 2012) is just one of our unique competitive advantages."
Please help AppZero reach the #1 spot on the CIO.com list by voting here now.
Vance received well over 150 nominations for the story. The two most active sub-sectors were cloud security and cloud storage, followed closely by cloud performance tools. However, cloud computing startups are a varied lot. He evaluated everything from open-source IaaS platforms to videoconferencing integration services to database aggregation to app data translation tools to a unified solution for how-to's and user guides.
AppZero is the fastest and most flexible way to migrate server applications to and across any cloud or datacenter, without re-engineering, re-installation or lock-in. Encapsulating Windows applications in VM/OS-free packages, AppZero's patented software makes complex server applications moveable with ease.
