Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: VTSS), a leading provider of advanced IC solutions for Carrier and Enterprise networks, announced that Martin Nuss, chief technology officer at Vitesse, will join other industry experts in a technical panel discussion at OFC/NFOEC 2013 taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Dr. Nuss will join experts from NSA, Ciena, and the Department of Defense on the technical panel “Network Security,” (NTh3J) on Thursday, March 21 at 1 p.m. local time. The panel will address specifics of security for the communications sector transport networks. With most security services designed to operate at layers three and higher, they may not be directly applicable to transport networks. A future network with dynamic network services and frequent resource optimization may result in more exposed interfaces and higher network complexity, but can also increase vulnerabilities, while resource virtualization can help limit exposure. Potential topics to be considered include types of threats, technologies available to mitigate threats, the value proposition of security, and vendor/carrier/government perspectives.
With more than 20 years of technical and management experience, Dr. Nuss is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and a member of IEEE. Dr. Nuss also serves on the board of directors for the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) and holds a doctorate in applied physics from the Technical University in Munich, Germany.
