Apple’s launch of the iPhone 5 in China didn’t do much to help Apple’s smartphone market share, which grew little in the country during the last quarter of 2012. According to research firm Canalys, Apple’s smartphone market share in China rose to 8.5 percent in the fourth quarter, an increase of 0.5 percent from the previous quarter. Read Original Content
South Korea’s BD Card is developing a barcode-based mobile payment service enabling card users with the barcode creation app installed on their smartphones to make payments at off-line stores. Data from GfK Malaysia indicates 823,000 tablet devices were sold in Malaysia in 2012, a growth of 87 percent compared to 2011.
