Caplin Systems Ltd, the web trading technology company, today announced the immediate availability of Caplin StreamLink Android and an updated version of Caplin StreamLink iOS – allowing customers to build mobile trading apps whatever the native platform.
With the burgeoning growth in use of smartphones and tablets, banks and other financial firms are looking to provide price discovery and trading on a variety of mobile devices. Caplin’s technology enables them to do this with their existing infrastructure rather than having to build completely new systems.
Caplin StreamLink Android allows developers to build mobile trading apps that take full advantage of real-time connectivity with Caplin Liberator, Caplin’s high-performance financial internet hub. By providing native support for Android, Caplin StreamLink now offers a simplified development path, faster application launch and improved performance for trading apps on Android devices.
Caplin has also released an updated version of Caplin StreamLink iOS which has been rebuilt with the latest iOS SDK to fully support Apple iOS 6 and the iPhone 5. This release provides improved functionality and performance with native iOS apps.
Both the Android and iOS 6 versions of Caplin StreamLink support seamless switching between cellular and wireless connections, implement resilience, failover and load-balancing to ensure connections are maintained, and manage connection bandwidth.
Paul Caplin, founder and CEO, says, “Several of our customers have chosen to build native mobile apps. They are already using this software, neatly tapping into Caplin’s web streaming infrastructure to distribute data in real-time to a variety of mobile devices.”
Caplin Liberator is able to deliver real-time pricing and trade messages to a wide variety of devices, including those running applications written in HTML5 as well as iOS, .NET, Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flex, Java, C, C++ and Microsoft Excel. Caplin StreamLink Android is supported on devices running the Gingerbread platform (Android 2.3) or later, including Android Honeycomb (3.0), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Jelly Bean (both 4.1.2 and 4.2.1).
Caplin Liberator is part of the Caplin Platform, a high-performance service-orientated real-time web trading framework designed to allow banks to build their own sophisticated, multi-device web trading apps more reliably and quickly than ever before.
Documentation for all versions of Caplin StreamLink is available to Caplin’s customers through their documentation support site.
