American Moms to Reach Out to Congress Every Day Week of Feb. 18; Outreach to be Captured and Publicized Via Social Media
INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- One Million Moms for Gun Control announced today a week-long campaign to mobilize moms across the country to demand action from their Congressional representatives on new and stronger common-sense gun laws.
During "Moms Demand Action Week," kicking off on Mon., Feb. 18, 2013, moms will pressure Congress every day via in-district meetings, Tweets, calls and emails to their elected officials, all of which will be captured by social media. For more information on daily activities, go to: http://wp.me/p2Ztxi-2ZT.
"For too long, the conversation about gun violence in America has been controlled by those who stand to profit from easy access to guns. In the meantime, American families continue to be destroyed by gun violence," said Shannon Watts, founder of One Million Moms for Gun Control. "Mothers have had enough, and we will no longer stand by and let Congress turn its back on sensible gun laws."
"Moms Demand Action Week" will include daily outreach to Congressional representatives in their hometowns. Moms are asked to start making local appointments now for the week of Feb. 18 with their Congressional representatives or their staff. Updates on calls-to-action and events will be provided daily on the home page of the One Million Moms for Gun Control website, onemillionmomsforguncontrol.org, during "Moms Demand Action Week" starting Mon., Feb. 18.
About One Million Moms for Gun Control:
Much like Mothers Against Drunk Driving was created to reduce drunk driving, One Million Moms for Gun Control was created to demand action on common-sense gun legislation. The bi-partisan grassroots movement of American mothers is demanding new and stronger solutions to lax gun laws and loopholes that have jeopardized the safety of our children and families. In just two months, the organization has established more than 80 chapters across the United States and has tens of thousands of members.
