Redwood Systems, the leader in building-performance lighting, today announced it has been honored as a Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Building Performance 2013 award winner. Selected as the top solution in the Energy-Using Product category, this win further validates Redwood’s unique approach to delivering improved building performance and reducing energy consumption through lighting.
CIBSE is a global network whose goal is to support the science, art and practice of building services engineering. The CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2013 recognise excellence in building performance, and the winners are selected based on actual, measured performance, not simply design intent or performance specifications. A panel of distinguished industry leaders chose the honorees across 12 categories, and assessed the finalists in the Energy-Using product category based on the innovation, capabilities, and results delivered to their customers by their technologies.
“Redwood Systems lighting product caught the judges’ attention for its overall design, energy efficient application of lighting control and good performance data,” said Hywel Davies, Technical Director of CIBSE and Chair of Judges for the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2013.
Redwood Systems has seen rapid adoption of its innovative and comprehensive building-performance lighting platform in the United States and Europe. Using a patented approach that delivers efficient low-voltage DC power and control to LED light fixtures and a high-density sensor network, the system delivers an average of 75 percent energy savings and gathers rich data around power consumption, temperature and space utilisation. Based on the immense value its platform provides, Redwood is relied upon by some of the world’s leading companies including Facebook, SAP, EDF and Volkswagen.
“We are honored to be recognised by such a highly regarded organisation as CIBSE,” said Dave Leonard, CEO of Redwood Systems. “We knew that carbon-conscious Europe was a prime market for our technology and this win, along with the local customers secured to date, validates our recent expansion. Receiving this honor also further solidifies the fact that technologies such as ours, as well as the other esteemed winners, will continue to have a significant impact on making buildings around the world smarter and more energy efficient.”
