Futurex today announced the release of the SAS9000 Secure Attached Storage server, an enterprise-class, network-attached storage platform secured by a FIPS 140-2 Level 3-compliant Secure Cryptographic Device. The SAS9000 can be integrated into environments containing existing Futurex products or as a standalone data protection and storage solution for external applications.
The SAS9000 contains hardware features designed for 24x7 operation in the most demanding environments and is capable of protecting data such as encryption keys, certificates, device serial numbers, electronic medical records, system access logs, and sensitive user data. Using the SAS9000, organizations can consolidate sensitive data in a single location, significantly reducing the cost and logistical difficulties of managing core cryptographic infrastructure for multiple business applications.
The SAS9000 is incorporated as part of Futurex’s Enterprise Security Platform and offers a direct interface with other network-attached Futurex solutions, including the RKMS Series, Excrypt SSP9000 Enterprise, and Certificate Authority Server. A purpose-built device configured for optimal performance and stability, the SAS9000 can be incorporated into an existing environment to reduce the overhead associated with database queries.
In addition to the onboard FIPS 140-2 Level 3-compliant Secure Cryptographic Device, physical access to the storage bays is also protected. Dual-control restricted locks ensure that access is available only to authorized users. Robust logical security measures, including dual-factor authentication using smart cards, validate the authenticity of application access attempts.
The SAS9000 contains numerous disaster recovery and redundancy features, including the following:
- Ten hard drive bays with user-selectable RAID configuration
- Dual, redundant, hot-swappable power supplies
- Dual, redundant Ethernet ports
- User-serviceable fans and cryptographic module batteries
“Futurex’s area of greatest expertise is the development of customized, turnkey solutions for our enterprise-class customers and partners,” said Brett Smith, President and CEO of Futurex. “The scalability and versatility that the SAS9000 brings to our Enterprise Security Platform demonstrates our truly limitless capacity for delivering advanced, industry-first solutions to a global marketplace.”
