Bretford Manufacturing, Inc.®, a United States manufacturer of technology-enabled furniture for agile learning and business environments, today launched the Charging Tray for Mobile Devices with Detect-Supply-Charge (DSC) Technology™ (MDMCTU10-CT). The newest compact charging station for tablet devices, the tray is the first to simultaneously deliver a full-rate charge to multiple brands of tablets and e-readers that require up to 2.4 amps. The new charging tray will be shown for the first time in the Bretford booth (#2365) this week at TCEA 2013, Feb. 6-8 in Austin, Texas and will be available for order March 1.
The new Bretford tray is ideal for any commercial location where multiple tablets and e-readers are being used and require a charging station, such as classrooms and business offices, although the market and application opportunities are limitless. The tray can effectively store and charge up to 10 tablets or e-readers of various brands and any device that supports USB charging with a screen size of up to 10.6 diagonal inches.
“Many schools and businesses have not standardized on one particular brand of tablet or e-reader,” said Dan Berger, product management team lead for Bretford Manufacturing, Inc. “Until now, there has not been a way to efficiently store and simultaneously charge all of these devices together without the risk of damage due to uneven or overcharging. The Bretford Charging Tray for Mobile Devices charges any device as if it were plugged directly into the wall. Just connect the USB cable supplied with each device into one of the 10 available ports and place the device into a compact storage slot within the tray. From there, the Bretford DSC Technology is able to detect the amount of power considered a full-rate charge for each device and supply only what is needed, up to 2.4 amps.”
The Charging Tray for Mobile Devices measures 17.75" x 18.125" x 11.25" and weighs approximately 50 pounds when fully loaded. To assist with mobility, an optional carrier (CTUCAR-AN) is available as an accessory. The carrier features easy rolling five-inch swivel casters, height adjustability and also includes a six-outlet power strip, located on the back of cabinet, which can be used to power the mobile device charging tray as well as any other peripheral equipment. The optional mobile carrier also includes a locking storage cabinet in the bottom.
To keep the tablets and e-readers secure from theft or damage, the new Charging Tray for Mobile Devices features all-steel construction, a locking lid with a combination lock and the ability to be bolted to a work surface or to the optional mobile carrier. Additional features include individual plastic pockets that accommodate devices with dimensions up to 11" x 8"x 7/8", laser cut numbers that assist in matching the storage slots to the corresponding USB charging port, and individual LED status indicators on the front of the unit that glow amber when a device is plugged in and charging, then change to green when a device is fully charged. Finally, the tension-hinged cover easily lifts and stays open to provide easy access to the devices and connections.
