BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/30/13 -- looped in, the first full featured, geolocation-based mobile payment app and digital wallet provider, and Sneakerbox, Boston based mobile retail truck, will kick off their joint national tour this Thursday at The Revolution event at Rime, a sneaker store in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Revolution event, a collaboration of Rime, Female Sneaker Fiend, and Sneakerbox celebrates women in the sneaker industry with music, live art, networking and cocktails.
Sneakerbox is part of a retail culture that seeks to innovate the recycled idea of "brick and mortar" sneaker and apparel retailing. Simply put -- think of a food truck minus the food and throw in the kicks, apparel, and accessories. Tiffany Crews and Angela Schipano, co-owners of Sneakerbox, were former employees of Nike and have embraced the mobile innovation model to allow them to reach a variety of customers, catering to both men and women, and provide the freshest in street fashion.
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised mobile pay for mobile trucks tour will visit college campuses, skate parks, local sneaker retailers, and other surprise venues. To follow the tour and get a list of locations, check out Facebook, at Sneakerbox and looped in, and follow us on Twitter @sneakerboxtruck and @areyouloopedin.
"When it comes to the entire mobile revolution, for all trucks, food and retail, and control for consumer for all purchases, the looped in pay by phone app is the best option on the market," said Angela Schipano, co-owner of Sneakerbox. "looped in is second generation mobile pay and is truly ready for prime time. For our tour, looped in and Sneakerbox go together like peanut butter and jelly. Who wants to deal with cash in the mobile business? No one. looped in makes it simple, much safer, and so much less expensive than accepting cards or using other mobile card processors."
PIN protected, the looped in mobile payment app is safer than cash, debit, or credit cards, is completely free, offers instant and ongoing rewards, and makes paying for anything as easy as texting. People will be able to test drive the pay by phone experience on the Sneakerbox truck at the Rime event and throughout the national tour, by downloading the looped in app and paying for retail items at an exclusive looped in discount.
Susan Boyle, owner of Rime Brooklyn, promises a wide selection for men and women sneakerheads and a great time. A wide selection for women is a rarity in the sneakerhead world. "Both Sneakerbox and Rime have similar ideas, that the sneaker industry needs to cater more to women's needs rather than 'pink and shrink' them."
Like an ATM on your phone, geolocation-based looped in ups the ante for all mobile payment systems and the user-merchant experience. For consumers, it means free and seamless payments and rewards from an app, not a gimmick replacement for credit card processing. Consumers can transact both online and offline with PIN security, redeem offers as part of a transaction, send friends deals they're not using. For merchants, there is no need for any new hardware. The merchant app works on any smart phone, iPod touch, computer, integrates with POS systems, and settles through the ACH in a closed loop, encrypted system.
To use looped in, consumers simply download the app onto any iPhone or Android, instantly load money from a debit or credit account, and then use accordingly. Aside from paying at hundreds of merchants and restaurants, looped in app users can send money to any friend or family member in the United States, in less than 10 seconds, absolutely free -- just by keying in their friend's phone number. It's like texting, plus your money.
Consumers can also pool money, online or offline. Instead of throwing down four debit cards at a restaurant to pay, three friends simply send money to the fourth friend's looped in app -- by keying in their phone number and hitting send inside the app. Pooling money online revolutionizes consumer ability to collectively make shopping cart purchases. Any group can send money to one person's phone. Then that person keys in their phone number in the shopping cart. Never before have groups of people been able to group-shop online. So if there's a buy one get one free situation, or bulk discounts, consumers can now take advantage of it online or in a store.
Consumers can move money in and out of their looped in account, to and from bank or credit card accounts. Unique to mobile payments, when money is loaded into a looped in account, there is absolutely no personal data or banking data stored, captured, or sent. To send money back to a bank or credit account, just click on Withdraw money in the app, enter the amount, PIN. Please visit areyoulooped.in
