uTest, the world’s leading provider of in-the-wild software testing services, today announced its forward-looking innovation group, uTest Labs. This team’s charter is to develop new solutions that advance the cause of developing and testing web or mobile applications. Co-located in the company’s Massachusetts headquarters and Seattle office, uTest Labs is led by some of the company’s top technologists and marketers, who have been given the resources and breathing room to take big leaps and tackle big issues.
The first big leap to be publicly unveiled from this effort is Applause, a mobile app analytics product that analyzes more than 50 million reviews from the Apple and Google Play app stores. Applause measures app quality and user satisfaction across ten key attributes, as well as providing each iOS and Android app with an easy-to-consume 0-100 “Applause Score.”
uTest Labs will also continue to advance the company’s AppGrader and uTest Extensions offerings. AppGrader is a free tool for quickly evaluating how well Android apps function on the most popular mobile devices, under real-world conditions. uTest Extensions are a collection of browser add-ons that make it quick and easy for testers to report issues on web apps directly from their browser.
“The purpose of uTest Labs is to peer over the horizon to see what challenges and opportunities are coming next in the world of app development, testing, monitoring and measuring,” said Doron Reuveni, uTest CEO. "Top companies now appreciate the value of testing their web and mobile apps in-the-wild to ensure they work as well in the hands of users as they do in the QA lab. Now, with uTest Labs, we can focus on identifying and solving the challenges that surround the modern app lifecycle, and help more companies launch killer apps.”
The launch of uTest Labs comes after a year of incredible growth for the company. uTest was named the 16th fastest growing company in America on the 2012 INC 500 list and today was named a finalist for Best Enterprise Mobile Service by the Global Mobile Awards.
