Call-It-Out, the next evolution in social media, today announced the launch of its app for iPhone and iPod touch. To celebrate the launch and introduce the world to this new social platform designed specifically for a new generation of action-oriented and socially empowered consumers, Call-It-Out makes its official debut at the ESPN Winter X Games 2013 in Aspen, Colorado (January 24-27, 2013).
With an easy-to-use, intuitive interface, Call-It-Out allows users to “call out” anything from events, action sports, social/local issues and causes, to brands, restaurants, businesses, places and more. Users can follow friends and view their “call-outs,” discover trending issues, meet like-minded people, discuss issues, plan action and solutions, and access the app’s advanced search function and “trending” section to discover content and issues they are interested in.
Call-It-Out, which delivers a more intimate and engaging social network experience, is a unique app combining elements of the most popular social products on the market today. These include platforms such as Yelp (reviews & ratings), Twitter (social networking & micro-blogging), Instagram (photo capture, editing & sharing), YouTube (video playlists and personalized video recommendations), and Pinterest (photo sharing & theme-based image collections). Plus, with advanced geo-tagging and search functionality, users can easily add geo-tags to their “call-outs” and comment on-the-go, anytime, anywhere!
Taking “posting” to the next level, Call-It-Out allows users to leverage & perpetuate what is being posted in the community directly to other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Users can also repost a “call-out” from another user, selectively share specific “call-outs” only to those they want to share it with (as opposed to the entire following), and can create community “call-outs” (i.e.: small local dog park closing). Additionally with filters and hashtags, users can tag their posts and/or easily discover “call-outs” their friends are making. Users can also chose to vote up “call-outs,” giving them more prominence in “overall” and/or “category” rankings.
Some great examples of “call-outs” include:
- Action Sports – awesome trick…what a jump! Or “can you believe that call last night?”
- Food – just ate the most delicious burger!
- Non Profit/Causes – Awesome Beach Cleanup this weekend!
- Community – “X problem” with school lunches. What should we do?
- Shopping - just found a great deal on these shoes!
- And much, much more!
“We are ecstatic to announce the official launch of Call-It-Out and believe that the Winter X Games is the perfect venue to showcase our new app,” said Alex Grappo, founder and CEO, Call-It-Out. “We created Call-it-Out because we wanted an app that used photos and videos as a tool, and not just entertainment regardless of where the user’s interest or passions lay. Additionally, this had to be a tool that would allow brands, events, and communities to more deeply engage with each other beyond what existing platforms were offering, and with frustration and user backlash against products like Instagram making headlines, it was clear that consumers were ready for something more.”
Grappo adds: “Today’s consumers are more empowered than ever with information about what they are buying, and in fact consumers are increasingly using data from social media to influence their behaviors and purchases. And, with the shift that is occurring from desktop to mobile in social media consumption, the market seemed ripe for a product that would consolidate features from multiple platforms, enabling users to both share and consume opinions and content more conveniently and dynamically on their iPhone or iPod touch.”
During the ESPN Winter X Games 2013, Call-It-Out is extending an invitation to attendees to visit their booth at X Fest where they’ll have the opportunity to learn about the app and enter their best “call-outs” during the Winter X Games for a chance to win valuable prizes. The Grand Prize is a two-person heli-ski adventure with Silverton Mountain that will be awarded for the highest voted “call-out” at the Winter X Games (i.e.: snowboarding or skiing tricks with a fun comment such as, “Can’t believe skier ‘X’ pulled this off!!!” #unbelievable #besttrickever).
