ALTON, England, January 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Smartcool Systems UK Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has been awarded accreditation from safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety. The program is a leading third party accreditation scheme, which recognizes very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors.
Smartcool is an energy efficiency provider focusing on lowering the electrical consumption of customers' commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump systems through retrofit solutions including its own ECO3 and ESM products. Smartcool provides full project management services to UK customers, in order to ensure the successful implementation of the ECO3, ESM and third party energy efficiency products. Customers typically receive a return on investment from a Smartcool project in less than 36 months.
Smartcool's application for safecontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. Achieving this highly respected certification will enhance the company's ability to attract new contracts from leading UK firms who only work with contractors with this level of qualification.
"We are thrilled to have been awarded the safecontractor certificate," says Steven Martin, Executive VP of Smartcool. "This not only gives our existing customers an added level of comfort in working with us, but will also give us a competitive edge in approaching major new accounts across the UK."
"Major organizations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place," adds John Kinge, Technical Director of safecontractor. "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Smartcool has done. The company's high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector."
Under the safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a rigorous review process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included in a database for clients.
Over 170 major national businesses from several key sectors have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services including electrical and mechanical work. These clients use the database to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site, and will only engage contractors who have received safecontractor accreditation.
