Gemalto leistet entscheidenden Beitrag bei der Einführung des ersten 4G-Mobilfunknetzes in Großbritannien

Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), das weltweit führende Unternehmen auf dem Gebiet der digitalen Sicherheit, gibt bekannt, dass es seine SIM-Anwendungen und seine eingebetteten Software-Anwendungen der Marke UpTeq LTE an EE liefern wird, das modernste Kommunikationsunternehmen Großbritanniens, und damit einen entscheidenden Beitrag bei der Einführung des ersten 4G-Mobilfunknetzes des Landes leistet.

EE, ein Joint Venture von France Telecom und Deutsche Telekom in Großbritannien, ist der erste Mobilfunknetzbetreiber, der in Großbritannien 4G einführt. Dieses Angebot wird über die Marke EE des Unternehmens vermarktet. Der 4G-Dienst von EE ist bereits in 18 Städten und Gemeinden in Großbritannien in Betrieb; bis Ende März 2013 ist die Einführung in 17 weiteren Kommunen geplant. Bis Ende 2014 soll das Angebot dann für 98 % der britischen Bevölkerung verfügbar sein.

Bei der ersten flächendeckenden LTE-Implementierung in Europa spielt UpTeq LTE von Gemalto eine entscheidende Rolle, unterstützt diese Komponente das Unternehmen EE doch dabei, die betriebswirtschaftlichen und technischen Herausforderungen von 4G zu meistern. Das Highend-Softwarepaket auf der SIM-Karte entspricht den aktuellsten Industriestandards. Es wurde für EE in die SIM-Kartenformate Micro SIM Plus und Nano SIM (4FF) eingebettet.

Mit der 4G-Technologie können die Verbraucher mobile Dienste dank kurzer Reaktionszeiten (low latency) in Höchstgeschwindigkeit nutzen. Die Ladegeschwindigkeit ist bis zu fünf Mal höher als bei 3G. Die Kunden können dadurch beim Surfen im Internet das volle Potenzial ihrer Mobilgeräte ausschöpfen und auf sichere Weise Breitbanddienste wie HD-Video, Live-Fernsehsendungen, Musik und Online-Spiele mit mehreren Anwendern nutzen.
