USRobotics, a Platinum Equity company, today debuted the USR4204 Courier™ Console Server & Power Hybrid, a critical back-up business solution that provides continual Out-of-Band (OOB) access to a company’s IT infrastructure both onsite and remotely when the network cannot be accessed due to severe weather, connectivity failures, problematic equipment, or when OOB is the only option available. The new console server hybrid is currently shipping throughout North America and Europe.
Developed in-house by an experienced team of USRobotics engineers, the new USR4204 is a compact hybrid: a console server and a power management unit in one streamlined chassis that can be utilized as desktop unit or installed in a standard 1U 19-inch rack. Designed for remote offices and small-to-medium sized businesses, the new server hybrid creates secure access to a company’s IT infrastructure through a single OOB modem (analogue or cellular) for all connected devices, thereby reducing the expenditures for multiple phone lines, modems, rack space and other redundant equipment. At the same time, it allows for complete console management and rebooting of network devices from across the room, the country or even the world.
“The new console hybrid saves time, space and money, along with the headaches involved with downtime when the network isn’t accessible,” explained Bruce Swail, CEO of USRobotics.
Swail further explained that the console server allows a secure connection from anywhere by simply using a username and password. An additional layer of security, including dial-back features, is added when used with world-wide approved USRobotics’ Courier Business Modems.
The new USR4204 is one of the only hybrid console products available with two independently controllable power ports employing industry standard IEC C13 style outlets for controlling 120-240VAC 50 or 60 Hz loads. IT administrators can easily reboot firewalls, routers or other appliances quickly and efficiently. Additionally the USR4204 allows independent remote monitoring of AC current demand on each output power port for further diagnostic enhancement. At the same time, the console portion of the unit can switch between four serial devices remotely with a modem or locally with a connected terminal using standard Ethernet cables. Remote Flash capability allows for software upgrades at remote locations from a central site and supports Cisco ROMmon for Cisco Network Appliances.
The compact design is merely 10 x 7.75 x 1.71 inches and 3.42 pounds and includes a RJ45 cable, DB9 and DB25 adapters, two rack mount brackets, and an universal switching power supply with bladed plugs for Europe, UK, US and China so that it can used almost anywhere in the world.
Product approvals include FCC, ICES, UL/CUL, CAN/CSA, CE, RoHS, and WEEE.
AVAILABILITY
The new USRobotics USR4204 Courier Console Server Hybrid is currently available direct from www.usr.com and can also be purchased through the authorized distributors Ingram Micro, Tech Data, D&H, Synnex; and reseller partners CDW, Provantage, and Tiger Direct.
