LAGUNA BEACH, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/22/13 -- Dr. Daniel C. Mills prioritizes his patients' education and patient-doctor communication. At the Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute, his Orange County plastic surgery practice, Dr. Mills operates with the belief that the best doctor-patient relationships are created through a combination of clear communication and detailed information. TouchMD, a software program Dr. Mills has implemented in his office, merges these two valued aspects into one innovative tool for the benefit of both Dr. Mills and his patients.
TouchMD is a patient-education software system recently endorsed by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that aims to reduce wasteful patient downtime at the doctor's office. The product offers the opportunity to enhance doctor-patient relationships by providing patients:
- a way to utilize their wait time in the exam room in a productive manner.
- an interactive, educational alternative to the standard magazine or television.
- a tool to research their personalized interests right in the doctor's office.
- a visual, animated overview of the anatomical area under consideration.
- examples of the pre and postoperative appearances of each particular type of surgery.
The software can deliver detailed information about potential outcomes for treatments ranging from breast augmentation to tummy tuck procedures, all with a touch-screen interface that is easy to navigate. By offering patients a tool to educate themselves in the exam room before the surgeon arrives, communication during consultations is greatly improved.
Dr. Mills, an Orange County plastic surgeon, also uses TouchMD to allow patients access to the information discussed during their consultation from their home computer through a web portal. This remote access allows patients to revisit the information they discussed with Dr. Mills after they have left the office, or with family during the decision-making process. The Aesthetic Plastic Surgical Institute and Dr. Mills welcome TouchMD as a secure method for patients to review and share information about their experiences.
