Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501), today announced that FORTUNE magazine recognizes HDS as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2013. This is the second consecutive year the company has been named on this prestigious annual list. This year HDS ranked No.63, moving up from No. 86 in 2012.
Nancy Long, executive vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer, Hitachi Data Systems, attributes this honor and company success to the hard work and dedication of all HDS employees. “I see HDS employees work together as a family to innovate and win, and we’re the best at what we do. We’re so proud to have been included for a second consecutive year as a FORTUNE 2013 best company to work for. This prestigious and highly-coveted distinction speaks volumes about HDS, our employees and the motivation that continues to drive us to be the best place to work, win and lead change in the industry.”
HDS has also again been named by Chief Executive magazine to its annual “40 Best Companies for Leaders” list in 2013. This year HDS ranks No. 7 under the continued leadership and innovation of CEO Jack Domme, moving up from the No. 16 position in the 2012 and No. 36 in 2011.
Today’s announcement adds to the list of accolades received by Hitachi Data Systems consistently over the years. The company was recognized as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute in 2011and 2012, and was named to the top 10 best places to work in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past four consecutive years, as well as a best place to work in Poland in 2011 and 2012.
About FORTUNE’s 100 Best Companies to Work For
To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. Two hundred fifty nine firms participated in this year’s survey. More than 277,000 employees at those companies responded to a survey created by the institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world. Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on the results of the institute’s Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management’s credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts. The list and related stories will appear in the February 4, 2013 print edition of FORTUNE Magazine, and are available now at www.fortune.com/bestcompanies.
About Chief Executive Magazine’s 40 Best Companies for Leaders
The annual ranking of the Top Companies for Leadership is based on a survey of leading organizations globally, which is conducted in partnership with Chally Group Worldwide a sales and leadership talent management firm. Companies were scored on five key criteria; having a formal leadership process in place, the commitment level of the CEO to the leadership development program, as measured by the percent of personal time spent in these activities, the depth of the leadership funnel as measured by the percentage of senior management positions filled by internal candidates, as well as the percentage of middle-management positions filled by internal candidates, number of other companies that report recruiting from the company being evaluated and shareholder value performance metric based on 10-year growth or decline in market capitalization. The list is available now at http://chiefexecutive.net/40-best-companies-for-leaders-list.
