SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/17/13 -- Dr. Jodie Reinertson, a Seattle skin care specialist, now offers Sculptra® Aesthetic as a skin rejuvenation option for her patients. Approved by the FDA, the innovative facial injectable is made with poly-L-lactic acid -- a stimulate that progressively restores collagen lost from aging. Due to the rate at which new collagen grows, results from Sculptra® are not immediate. This makes the technique different than other injectables as it provides patients with results over an extended period of time.
The procedure was originally performed to treat facial lipoatrophy in HIV patients, and in 2009 the treatment was expanded for cosmetic use. Unlike other popular injectables, Sculptra® uses biodegradable synthetic materials and does not require allergy testing. According to Dr. Reinertson, the technique can be effectively used for improving volume loss in the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and around the mouth. Regarding candidacy, she adds, "For the patient that is not interested in instantaneous results, who would love a slow gradual improvement of their appearance over time, Sculptra® is an ideal product."
Typical Sculptra® treatments last about 30 minutes and patients can usually see results within eight weeks of the injection. The average patient will achieve the highest quality of results after multiple treatments, and those results can last up to two years. However, Dr. Reinertson says results often vary among individuals and often depend on the patient's natural body processes.
Although Sculptra® Aesthetic is a safe and effective procedure, Dr. Reinertson says patients should always consult with a qualified skin care professional to ensure they achieve ethical treatment and optimal results. As an experienced skin care specialist, she adds that she feels offering the Sculptra® treatment to her Seattle skin care patients enhances the level of care her practice provides.
