CloudBees, the Java Platform as a Service (PaaS) innovation leader, today announced that IDG’s InfoWorld has announced the company as one of 35 winners of the prestigious 2013 InfoWorld Technology of the Year Awards. Selected by InfoWorld Test Center editors and reviewers, and drawn from all products InfoWorld tested in the past year, the annual list identifies the best and most innovative products and services on the IT landscape.
The 2013 awards recognize the best hardware, software and cloud products and services in categories ranging from Big Data to cloud computing to application development and mobile technology. CloudBees’ selection marks the second consecutive year the company has made the InfoWorld list.
“Many years ago we called these our ‘Product of the Year Awards.’ But ‘product’ just isn’t the right word,” said Doug Dineley, executive editor of InfoWorld’s Test Center. “Our Technology of the Year Awards are not merely the best ‘products’ in their class. These are the tools at the leading edge of technology innovation — the ones that are shaping the way we work and do business.” In a January 9 2013 story announcing the awards, InfoWorld discussed how CloudBees provides a range of cloud tools that are starting to offer well-defined services.
“CloudBees is essentially a Rube Goldberg machine for handling all of the biggest and smallest chores for Java development,” the story stated. “It integrates all of the most important open source tools in one stack. You commit your code so that Jenkins will clean it up and test it. Then you push another button and deploy it to CloudBees’ machines. Your code goes in one end of the pipeline and out comes a working enterprise stack. Along the way, bazillions of little software hammers, levers, cogs and cams manipulate it to be just right.”
"It is an honor to receive the Technology of the Year Award for the second consecutive year, as it continues to validate the quality of our technology, our team and our application lifecycle approach to PaaS," said Sacha Labourey, CEO at CloudBees. “We are committed to providing Java developers with the best technology to easily develop and continuously deploy applications in the cloud.”
Other notable names to make this year’s list include Apache Hadoop, Google Android Jelly Bean, Microsoft Azure and Apple iPad Mini.
