Syncsort certifie son logiciel MFX pour EMC Disk Library for mainframe

Des performances exceptionnelles au service d'une nette hausse des débits systèmes et d'une réduction significative des coûts

Leader mondial de l'intégration de données, Syncsort annonce aujourd'hui l'auto-certification de son logiciel haute performance de tri de données mainframe Syncsort® MFX® pour les produits EMC® Disk Library for mainframe, leaders des bibliothèques de bandes virtuelles (VTL) pour environnements mainframe. Cette auto-certification a été réalisée en collaboration avec EMC, dans le cadre de son ISV Backup Recovery Systems Partner Program. La combinaison de ces solutions haute performance réduit considérablement les temps processeurs et les temps de traitement sur mainframe, pour une augmentation des débits systèmes et une baisse de la consommation de ressources coûteuses.

Aujourd'hui encore, le traitement sur mainframe demeure la clef de voûte de l'entreprise. Et pour de nombreux grands groupes, les applications mainframe critiques se situent toujours et encore au cœur de leur activité. Or, afin de limiter, voire de réduire les coûts associés au traitement sur mainframe, beaucoup d'entreprises cherchent de nouveaux moyens d'optimiser la consommation MIPS, de réduire leur consommation de stockage et d'implémenter de nouvelles technologies plus économiques. Cela passe généralement par l'élimination des bandes pour, entre autres, améliorer les performances, simplifier la reprise d'activité et optimiser les niveaux de disponibilité. Toutefois, dans de nombreux cas, le retour sur ces investissements se fait encore attendre.

Syncsort MFX intègre les fonctionnalités PARASORT et MAXSORT pour optimiser l'efficacité globale des systèmes. PARASORT réduit le temps de tri de grands ensembles de données sur bandes multi-volumes et/ou concaténés. Grâce à cet algorithme de tri parallèle, Syncsort MFX peut lire les données de quatre lecteurs de bandes simultanément. Quant à la technologie MAXSORT, elle permet de trier de grands ensembles de données sur un minimum d'espace de stockage à accès direct (DASD). Pour ce faire, MAXSORT segmente les données en entrée, trie les segments créés et les stocke sur bandes, avant de fusionner le tout en une seule tâche.

La forte capacité en disques des bibliothèques EMC Disk Library for mainframe permet aux utilisateurs d'allouer davantage de disques au processus de tri. Ils obtiennent ainsi un tri plus performant tout en baissant leurs coûts. Le rôle du logiciel Syncsort MFX consiste à agir sur l'efficacité du tri pour aller encore plus loin dans la performance. De fait, d'après un récent test de performance mené par Syncsort, l'association de Syncsort MFX et EMC Disk Library for mainframe permet de réduire de 56 % les temps d'horloge et de 14 % les temps processeurs.
