LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 01/08/13 -- Audyssey, a leader in audio technology for the personal, automotive, mobile and theater markets, today announced its newest advance in home theater surround sound, Audyssey DSX 2. This update to Audyssey DSX now takes stereo content to 5.1 and, if you have the channels, even 11.2. Most music content, TV programs and movies are still delivered in stereo. Audyssey DSX 2 dynamically adjusts the content to create a truly immersive surround-sound experience.
"Based on our research over the past several years we developed an in-depth understanding of the necessary acoustical and perceptual cues that must be extracted from stereo recordings to produce a surround experience," said Audyssey CTO, Chris Kyriakakis. "With Audyssey DSX 2, we've finally built a single bridge from your basic two-channel system all the way to 11.2 and beyond."
The full breadth of Audyssey DSX 2 incorporates height and width channels for a fully immersive experience. The emphasis that has, until now, been placed on rear channels in 7.1 systems doesn't account for proper psychoacoustics, which research shows, makes wide channels and then height channels respectively more important for immersive sound.
"With Audyssey DSX 2," Kyriakakis continued, "we're providing an enveloping experience with virtually any content and that hasn't been possible until now."
