HARMAN, the premium global audio and infotainment group (NYSE:HAR) is proud to showcase Chrysler Group’s 2013 SRT Viper at its booth at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), opening today in Las Vegas, featuring the latest infotainment technologies for today’s connected drivers. HARMAN announced in August of 2010 (http://www.harman.com/EN-US/Newscenter/Pages/ChryslerFiat.aspx) that it had been awarded a contract from Chrysler Group to design and develop an in-vehicle, hands-free communication system. HARMAN engineers worked with Chrysler teams to design the latest Uconnect 8.4A and 8.4AN systems, premiering on several 2013 Chrysler vehicles.
“The extension to our long-standing relationship with Chrysler Group is amazing validation of our infotainment offering,” said Dinesh Paliwal, Harman’s Chairman, President and CEO. “With the latest Uconnect and premium audio system inside the Viper, we will deliver to Chrysler Group and its customers a high performance system that offers scalable, next-generation features people crave.”
Uconnect 8.4A and 8.4AN are on the market now in the 2013 Ram 1500 and will be available soon in the 2013 SRT Viper.
At CES, Chrysler also announced that it will add Internet radio capability to its acclaimed Uconnect Access suite of in-vehicle services. As part of its introduction of Uconnect Access Via Mobile, Chrysler Group will integrate Aha™ by HARMAN into its suite of Uconnect Access services. Aha makes it easy to instantly access your favorite web content on the go. Choose from stations spanning Internet radio, personalized music, traffic, hotels, weather, audiobooks, Facebook, Twitter and more.
HARMAN infotainment and Aha audio entertainment content can be enjoyed onboard the SRT Viper GTS via the premium Harman Kardon surround sound system. The custom-designed audio system features proprietary Logic 7 technology capable of extracting seven channels of output from any two-channel stereo source. The system features 18 high-performance speakers in a 5.4 playback architecture (5 surround channels and 4 subwoofers).
