Fiskars Wins 7 GOOD DESIGN™ 2012 Awards for Design Excellence

Fiskars is proud to announce that seven of its products across the company’s garden, sewing and craft categories were awarded the prestigious GOOD DESIGN™ 2012 Award. The award emphasizes quality design of the highest form, function, and aesthetic.

The GOOD DESIGN™ Award is conferred annually by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The Museum received several thousand entries in 2012 from corporations in over 48 countries.

The following Fiskars products were named some of the most innovative and cutting-edge product designs around the world in 2012.

“Fiskars’ rich heritage dating back to 1649 was built upon our belief that all things, even the simplest, can be made better and smarter. We continue to apply that principle today,” said Fiskars President Paul Tonnesen. ““Fiskars is honored to be recognized as a leading global company for exceptional aesthetic and functional design innovation.”

Fiskars products are renowned for their functionality, ease of use and design and have been recognized worldwide with numerous design accolades, including: red dot design awards, iF design awards, Fennia Prize - Good design grows global, International Design Awards (IDA), and GOOD DESIGN Awards.

All winning designs for GOOD DESIGN 2012 will be posted on the Museum’s website at www.chi-athenaeum.org and are published in the GOOD DESIGN Yearbook for 2012-2013.

Now in its 62nd year, GOOD DESIGN remains the oldest and most prestigious Awards Program organized worldwide. Submissions to the program are judged by a jury of distinguished design professionals and leading industry specialists to create a revived awareness about contemporary design and to honor both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing that have pushed the envelope for competitive products in the world marketplace. GOOD DESIGN is an international symbol of a company's firm commitment to innovation and superior design embodiment.

What are the new priorities for the connected business? First: businesses need to think differently about the types of connections they will need to make – these span well beyond the traditional app to app into more modern forms of integration including SaaS integrations, mobile integrations, APIs, device integration and Big Data integration. It’s important these are unified together vs. doing them all piecemeal. Second, these types of connections need to be simple to design, adapt and configure...
