Most recently, Jeff was the primary anchor for KENS-TV in San Antonio, Texas. He was also responsible for community outreach, station promotion, and social media. Prior to that, he was the morning news anchor at KSHB-TV in Kansas City, Missouri, where he created a successful community outreach program. "Workers Wanted" matched businesses with potential employees and won top awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the Missouri Broadcasters Association.
"Jeff's personal and passionate approach to anchoring and reporting make him a great addition to the WXYZ team and to the community," said Ed Fernandez, Scripps divisional vice-president and vice-president and general manager of WXYZ.
Jeff was also an anchor/reporter at WDIV-TV in Detroit from 1999 to 2007. He received an Emmy award from The Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences in 2006. I look forward to getting re-acquainted with the viewers starting next week."
Born in Arkansas City, Kansas, Jeff began his career at KNSS Radio and KKRD Radio in Wichita, Kansas before moving to KMID-TV in Midland, Texas and KCBD-TV in Lubbock, Texas.
Jeff will contribute to WXYZ's extensive Auto Show coverage with automobile-related stories beginning Thursday, January 10th. He will join JoAnne Purtan on the anchor desk beginning Monday, January 14th, on 7 Action News at 5 p.m.
