SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/03/13 -- In the late 1970s when the first Radial Keratotomy procedures were being performed in the United States, Dr. Michael Gordon dreamed of providing leading edge vision correction procedures. Less than a decade later, the San Diego LASIK surgeon performed the first excimer laser treatment to correct nearsightedness using the FDA-approved laser. In 1993, he founded Vision Surgery & Laser Center at the Aventine in San Diego. Shortly after, Perry S. Binder, MD joined the practice, along with David I. Geffen, OD.
Today, Jack L. Weiss, MD, David J. Schanzlin, MD, Michael Gordon, MD and David I. Geffen, OD are principles in Gordon Weiss Schanzlin Vision Institute, (formerly Vision Surgery & Laser Center). Together with Associate Surgeons, David J. Tanzer, MD, Alison N. Gordon, MD, Steven Schallhorn, MD, Vincent C. Fan, MD, Dorothy Wang, MS, OD, and Mitchell Brown, OD, the LASIK San Diego practice celebrates twenty years of advanced refractive and cataract surgery along with general ophthalmic care.
