LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/13/12 -- Inktank, the only company to provide enterprise-level support for the Ceph Distributed Storage System, today announced that it has joined Dell's Emerging Solutions Ecosystem and will offer Ceph storage software, professional services and support as a part of the Dell OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution. The announcement was made at Dell World 2012 in Austin, Texas.
Dell's Emerging Solutions Ecosystem is a partnership program designed to deliver complementary and interoperable best-of-breed hardware, software and services components as part of its emerging technology solutions such as the Dell OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution. Dell's OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution comes with a validated reference architecture, Crowbar software for rapid OpenStack deployment and configuration, as well as support, deployment and consulting services to accelerate customer time to value.
Ceph consists of a highly scalable and flexible platform that enables object, block, and file storage in a single universal storage system to enable enterprise storage in the cloud. As a new member of the Dell Emerging Solutions Ecosystem, Inktank has integrated Ceph into Dell's Crowbar software, allowing customers to deploy the Ceph storage solution in conjunction with OpenStack components. By joining the ecosystem, Inktank has completed Dell's thorough certification process, including testing on Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell Force10 switches on 10-gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) infrastructure.
"The industry demand for Ceph has been extraordinary, and our collaboration with Dell enables us to bring Ceph's storage capabilities to more enterprise customers," said Bryan Bogensberger, CEO of Inktank. "We are eager to work with Dell to help make enterprise cloud storage reliable through open solutions."
"As more enterprises move to the cloud, our customers are seeking highly scalable and reliable cloud storage," said John Igoe, executive director of Cloud and Big Data Solutions, Dell. "We are pleased to have companies like Inktank join the growing Dell Emerging Solutions Ecosystem to offer our OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution customers with new IT capabilities via the cloud."
