Monday on ABC at 8:00 p.m. EST, as America watches Shilo Harris and his family move into the home “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” built for them on December 10, 2012, 18 employees of global IT solutions distribution leader Avnet Technology Solutions’ San Antonio office are proud of the role they played in making it happen.

In addition to donating a complete home technology system that includes three Apple MacBooks, a printer, voice recognition software and a hands-free microphone, Avnet employees volunteered 113 hours on two Saturdays, helping the family pack as well as planting sod, moving rocks, cleaning up construction debris and directing traffic, among other tasks.
“Avnet thanks Shilo Harris for his service to our country. It is our honor to meet some of the Harris family’s technology needs,” said Fred Cuen, general manager and senior vice president of Avnet Technology Solutions’ IBM Solutions business unit. “We are also proud of our employees for volunteering their personal time to give back to our community.”
Avnet was invited to participate through its association with Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first recreation park built to accommodate people with special needs. To date, Avnet employees have volunteered more than 440 hours, welcoming park visitors, assisting them on rides and activities and serving food.
“Partnering with Morgan’s Wonderland on both projects has been extremely rewarding for Avnet and its employees,” said Cuen. “Avnet’s community outreach focuses on organizations that serve children and need technology, and in helping the Harris family, we were able to bring both commitments together.”
The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” now in its 9th and final season, is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. It’s executive-produced by Brady Connell and George Verschoor. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America.
