Cloud hosting has been creating quite a buzz lately as being the latest, and some claim also the best type of web hosting around. It is quite different to your usually hosting server and certainly requires a lot of skill to use. Most of the time it cannot be run by a single person, but rather by a team of people who can get the job done at a quicker pace. One of the most popular websites in the world that uses cloud hosting is Google. Ever seen Google’s website down? No. So there really must be some excellent points to cloud hosting that we will now look at.
The single most important thing that you need to know about cloud hosting is that the whole process of creating your website, as well as its components and files, are spread out to different servers, instead of everything being packed into one. They are all still available at the same time, and required parts of information can always be taken when needed. This branching of files is what makes the most impressing advantage of cloud hosting – almost zero downtime. None. Because if one page goes down on a server, the other server automatically reboots it. Ok, so there is a tiny bit of downtime in between, but it is literally done in milliseconds, which makes it almost unnoticeable. Other websites that use this type of server are Amazon and PayPal, as well as any other website that simply cannot afford to go down even for a second.
The pricing for using cloud servers varies greatly. This entirely depends on how much space your website needs and how much traffic its bringing in. the more space you need to use, the higher the monthly pricing will go. This is perhaps the only downside to cloud servers that cannot yet be stabilised or lowered. It is simply impossible for it to pass a cheap when it comprises of so many other elements that keep it working. Whether or not a user wishes to invest in it is up to them. Careful thoughts need to be put in to the future of the website and the possibilities of how far it can develop.
There is a downside to cloud hosting though and it concerns the pre-knowledge that a user must have before using it. Remember that it refers to different servers working at the same time. Although there is of course an automated method to keep track of everything, someone still needs to have the skills to check that everything is going smoothly. Computers are machines after all and they can make mistakes, some of which may cost a website a lot of time and money if they are not taken care of. If you are not very knowledgeable in the field, you may need to consider hiring a professional to help you out, jus so you can be sure that your website will not be bugged by errors.
Cloud hosting is becoming popular, but it is yet to become the first choice for hosting for new website developers. Hopefully, the prices for having your own cloud hosted website will be lowered in the future, because it truly is the most stable hosting method around to date.
