Accuvant, the only research-driven information security partner delivering alignment, clarity and confidence to enterprise and government clients, today announced that it has been named as a finalist in the Best Anti-Malware Solution category for the Government Security News (GSN) 2012 Homeland Security Awards Program. Accuvant was chosen for its Malware Emergency Response (MER) service, which helps private and public entities identify and remediate malware outbreaks.
“Federal, state, and local agencies across the country must defend themselves against an increasing matrix of international cyber threats, while complying with regulatory requirements and dealing with cost constraints,” said Jeff Horne, Accuvant LABS director. “Our malware emergency response service provides a quick and comprehensive response when organizations are faced with a malware outbreak that causes loss of services and integrity of data, or a high-level APT-style threat focusing on loss of personal identifiable information and intellectual data. The combination of proven hardware and software solutions with our world-class expertise and proprietary-phased approach makes our offering the most effective malware emergency response service on the market today. We are honored to be recognized by GSN for this service.”
With each MER engagement, Accuvant experts identify the malware present on an organization’s network, as well as the impact and the risk that malware poses to that organization. After we clean the malware from the infected systems, our team locates and removes backdoors to prevent re-compromise. Finally, we meet with the organization to discuss the precautions that can be taken to minimize the possibilities of future attacks and outline the steps that can be taken to more quickly respond in the event that the network is compromised again.
The 4th annual Homeland Security Awards Program, organized by GSN, recognizes the public-private collaboration that makes up the nation’s homeland security apparatus by presenting awards to leading vendors of IT and physical security products and solutions, and to federal, state, county and municipal agencies for notable achievements in government programs, projects, strategies and initiatives. Winners will be unveiled and honored at GSN’s 2012 Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 29 at the Washington, DC Convention Center.
