BURLINGTON, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/15/12 -- DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability's vice president and director of Strategic Wind Initiatives, Karen Conover, was recognized by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) as the recipient of the Britt Theismann Person of the Year Award at AWEA's Fall Symposium 2012 in Chandler, Ariz., on November 14, 2012.
The award recognizes Ms. Conover's contributions to the wind industry over the last 25 years, including the foundation of Global Energy Concepts, an engineering consulting company; her service as a board member on the AWEA Board of Directors for more than 15 years; and her ongoing work with DNV KEMA. Ms. Conover is also a board member of Women of Wind Energy and has been named a founding ambassador for the Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) initiative of the US Department of Energy.
"I was honored to be this year's recipient of the Britt Theismann Award," said Conover. "I owe much of my success to the opportunities created by both AWEA and DNV KEMA, and look forward to continuing to help both organizations pursue their energy initiatives."
The Britt Theismann Wind Energy Industry Person of the Year Award is an annual honor bestowed upon an industry professional who demonstrates strong leadership, integrity, values, vision, commitment to excellence, and commitment to the wind community. Previously known as the Wind Energy Industry Person of the Year award, the accolade was renamed in August 2011 to honor the late Britt Theismann, who had served as COO of AWEA since 2009.
