TORONTO and VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, November 2nd, at Strategy's (http://strategyonline.ca) Agency of the Year (AOY) awards gala in Toronto, DDB Canada was awarded double gold, winning AOY Gold, as well as the digital AOY Gold title for its digital arm, Tribal DDB Canada. The 22nd annual competition recognizes the best of Canadian advertising and is considered the most prestigious and sought-after recognition in the industry.
"We are absolutely blown away by this tremendous honor. It demonstrates that DDB is the most consistent and creative force in Canadian advertising," said David Leonard, president and chief operating officer of DDB Canada. "Winning both titles speaks volumes to the calibre of creative and strategic talent who work across all of our disciplines."
The DAOY Gold win is a first for Tribal DDB Canada in only the second year for the digital component to the awards competition. DDB Canada celebrates its seventh AOY Gold win and is the most awarded agency in the history of the AOY competition, with an unprecedented 15 podium finishes since the agency first appeared on the list in 1996, making DDB Canada the most decorated and consistently honored agency over the past 17 years.
The annual industry competition held by Strategy, a leading national trade publication for advertisers and marketers, looked at five integrated marketing campaigns and three digitally led campaigns completed over the past year from 11 shortlisted agencies and 12 shortlisted digital agencies. The case studies are scored for both strategic and creative thinking that took teams from challenge to insight, idea, execution and, finally, results. Both DDB Canada and Tribal DDB Canada's outstanding strategic thinking and creative execution outshone the competition and earned top marks from this year's judging panel, made up of industry executives.
DDB Canada and Tribal DDB Canada's submissions showed the depth and scope of the agency's creative prowess and strategic insight in both Toronto and Vancouver operations. Strategy judged the agency's integrated campaigns for autoTRADER, BC Hydro, Big Sisters of Lower Mainland, Canadian Tourism Commission, and Cialis; as well as digitally led campaigns for Canadian Tire, Canadian Tourism Commission, and McDonald's Canada.
