Embassy Staff Could See the Back of Assange Sooner than Later

Nobody could possibly claim Ecuadorian sovereignty runs to the front steps of a multi-tenant building

WikiLeaks bad boy Julian Assange, flush with his shiny new Ecuadorian political asylum, is proposing to make a statement to the assembled media and his adoring fans from the steps of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Sunday at 9am New York time, 2pm local time.

If the Brits are as good as their word – and Assange has the brass to make an outdoor appearance – the cops will swoop down and arrest him for breaking bail and deport him. Nobody could possibly claim Ecuadorian sovereignty runs to the front steps of a multi-tenant building.

He reportedly figures to appeal to the International Court of Justice if the UK attempts to block his departure for Ecuador.

If the Brits are smart they’ll station cops up the stairs to block him from ducking back into the first-floor apartment that houses the embassy, where Assange has reportedly been sleeping on an inflatable mattress.

Sunday will be the two-month anniversary of his disappearance into the embassy.

WikiLeaks tweeted that '”Julian Assange will give a live statement in front of the Ecuadorian embassy, Sunday 2pm (London time).” It will be his first public appearance since March.
