Serco Embeds Flexera Software’s Licensing Solution into Software Suite for Nuclear Industry

FlexNet Publisher to enable flexible packaging, licensing & pricing and support for all technology platforms

Maidenhead, UK - March 28, 2012 - Flexera Software, the leading provider of strategic Application Usage Management solutions for application producers and enterprises, today announced that international service company Serco has selected FlexNet Publisher as the embedded software licensing solution for its ANSWERS® Software Codes. FlexNet Publisher will enable Serco to offer its nuclear sector customers flexible and customised software licensing and pricing options for The ANSWERS Software Codes whilst protecting the company from unauthorised software use and revenue loss.

Nuclear operators must maintain and demonstrate the highest standards of operational safety. To this end, the ANSWERS Software Codes, produced by Serco's Technical Consulting Services, are used by nuclear operators for activities pertaining to reactor physics, radiation shielding and dosimetry, nuclear criticality safety, nuclear well logging and liability planning. Serco's civil nuclear arm, Serco Technical Consulting Services, is a specialist technical support organisation which, through its origins in the UK civil nuclear industry, has been providing engineering and science services to the nuclear industry for over 50 years.

The first solution within the ANSWERS Software Codes package that has been FlexNet-enabled is Visual Workshop - a tool used by analysts to display and verify model geometry, run "Monte Carlo" simulations and view results. Monte Carlo simulation is a computerised mathematical technique that provides a range of possible outcomes and the probability of each occurring for any choice of action. Gradually, the full ANSWERS Software Codes package will be embedded with FlexNet Publisher.

Serco chose FlexNet Publisher for its ease of use for both itself and its customers who in turn often need to embed ANSWERS Software codes into their own products. In addition, Flexera Software has an ongoing and well charted research and development program for FlexNet Publisher, which ensures that Serco's future product requirements will always be met.
