MCAP Selects Host Analytics to Address Financial Consolidation

Financial Services Company Replaces On-Premise Solution With SaaS-Based Solution; Lauds Ease-of-Use and Implementation of Host Analytics CPM Suite

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/13/12 -- Host Analytics, the leading provider of cloud-based corporate performance management (CPM) solutions, today announced that MCAP Service Corporation, one of Canada's largest independent mortgage financing companies, has selected Host Analytics' CPM suite to address its financial consolidation needs. The Host Analytics technology is MCAP's first cloud-based solution.

"MCAP's selection of Host Analytics is noteworthy," said Jon Kondo, president and CEO for Host Analytics. "It is a perfect example of benefits that can be achieved with a cloud-based solution and is indicative of a larger industry move away from on-premise solutions. We look forward to helping MCAP increase efficiency during their financial consolidation process and achieve even greater success."

MCAP originates, underwrites, securitizes, trades and services mortgage assets with employees in offices across Canada. With a stable of more than 50 institutional investors and over 120,000 borrowers, the company creates innovative financial products, which match the business needs of both borrowers and investors.

"Making the leap and implementing our first cloud-based solution wasn't an easy one," said Greg Kowalenko, associated director of planning and analysis for MCAP. "However, our interest was initially piqued by Host Analytics' technology because of its combination of the technology infrastructure and depth of functionality. Once we got our hands on the solution and learned more about their CPM solution's ease-of-use, speed of implementation and ability to do forecast on the fly, we were sold."

MCAP's need to continually upgrade functionality with the previous solution, which came at an added cost, was a key factor leading to the change. The decision to use Host Analytics was made by finance and IT partly due to Host Analytics' cloud-based delivery model, which made it the first of its type for the company. MCAP will be able to implement and start using the Host Analytics CPM solutions in approximately three months.

"The impetus for moving from an on-premise solution to Host Analytics was the functionality," continued Kowalenko. "Because of the amount of internal customers we serve, financial consolidation and financial reporting were our main concerns. Creating models for them is key because everything from expenses to rent and corporate IT costs need to be consolidated. With our previous on-premise solution, that consolidation could take upward of 20 minutes, which seemed like an eternity."

Host Analytics' suite of cloud-based CPM solutions helps finance executives drive fact-based decision making throughout their organizations and puts rigor into financial processes, such as planning and budgeting, scorecarding, financial consolidation and reporting.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there? The current state of the art for Big Data analytics, as applied to network telemetry, offers new opportunities for improving and assuring operational integrity. The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...
